South Bristol v Bromley Heath 14-9-08 AYL DIV 1
This was game 1 of division A football for this squad. After the delayed start to the bad weather last week, I was wondering how the squad would handle themselves in the more competitive division.

The 1st half against South Bristol, on one of the worst pitches I have seen for a very long time, was tough going; we were unable to putting any passes together due the length of the grass, the 1st 15 minutes we controlled the game, slowly South Bristol came back into the game, with their big midfielder controlling the game and with our midfield dropping to deep we spent the reminder of the game defending.  We went in at ½ time 0-0, thanks to great defending by the boys at the back.

The 2nd half started and we were stepped up the tempo of the game, closing down South Bristol’s midfield and not allowing their defence to play the ball out. We made a couple of substitutions, with fresh legs up front and midfield we now were on top but couldn’t convert the chances we created. Finally we got the breakthrough Alex Hill gathered the ball on the edge of the penalty area, turned the defender and fired a low shot into the corner of the net. We continued to press and got the killer goal , this time Alex Offer pushed an inch perfect pass between the central defenders and Alex Hill ran on to convert. As South Bristol pressed Reece made a brave save at the feet of the South Bristol striker, we continued to hold our own and ran out 2-0 winners.

Well done boys this was a difficult game in humid conditions on a very bad pitch.

Bromley Heath v Bristol City Supporters Club   21st Sept

This was going to be one of the hardest game of the season against a team are have County Standard or ex Academy players through the team,

The game didn't start well within 5 Min's we were a goal down , a defensive mix up allowed the city forward to back heel the ball into the net.  This game could then have gone away from us , but all credit to the boys we battled back to dominate the next 20 Min's and levelled the game through Dan Hewitt following a break down the Right side of midfield and the move was finished off with a great right foot shot into the bottom corner of the net. We kept our shape and continued to press forward , the midfield were outstanding , closing down and preventing the dangerous City midfield and attack any room to create chances. We then took the lead through Alex Hill , finishing from close range again from great build up play down the right side .  City them came back into the game and scored the goal of the game a great glancing header into the top corner.

 Half time 2-2.

The 2nd Half started much like the 1st with City taking a early lead finishing from close range, we continued to press but were unable to break through the City defence. City started to control the game and went on to score a further 3 goals. We did have chances one from Alex H and a great shot from GT which rattled the cross bar.

Final score 6-2 to Bristol City.  I don't think the score is a fair reflection of  how close the game was. We more than held our own against a team who are going to be up as one of the top 3 teams at  the end of the Season

Overall if the boys play to this high standard against other teams in the league we will not struggle this year.

Final mention , There was qualityplayers on both sides but  I think we had the best player of the pitch.. names to me.. ???

Frampton  v Bromley Heath 28-9-08 AYL DIV 1

I was not sure what to expect today, Frampton lost heavily in the 1st game and then won well in the 2nd game. I then had our action man Alex Hill pull out due to illness. My team talk was not to let Frampton get an early grip on the game, keep it tight then take control. We started very well , our midfield duo , Chase and Dan were dominant ably supported upfront by the dangerous Pikey and GT. The defence was again well marshaled by Joe and Jordan.  We were well in control with Frampton only creating one clear chance when their striker burst through and fired wide.  Pikey finally brought the deadlock with a solo run into the penalty area and fired low into the bottom corner. GT then took advantage of a mix-up in the Frampton defence to bundle the ball over the line. We were in control of the game playing some good football. Half time 2-0

2nd half team talk was more of the same boys. We started well again but were unable to create the chances to put the game away, this was due to Frampton’s defence and midfield was now winning the ball. For 15mins or so we were under pressure, we couldn’t clear our lines, I just thinking lets ride this out and get the killer goal. Then the Frampton striker took advantage of a mix up in our defence and scored from close range. Frampton were now back in it , we needed to get control again quickly and within a couple of minutes following a good move down the right GT finished off with a great shot from a narrow angle into the roof of the net. I now brought on fresh legs in the key areas and we again gained control and Frampton looked a bit tired in the humid conditions. Sam worked his socks off up and down the left side, with Liam now starting to create chances as well , GT then completed his hat-trick. The game was now won. In the final minutes we could have scored from a Kane header and Liam fired against the ball. Final score a 4-1 win.  This was a great win in hot conditions, we played good pass and move football and our off the ball running was spot-on. Well done the whole squad.

YateUtd v Bromley Heath 05-10-08 AYL DIV 1

We started brightly , competing well all over the pitch.  Yate's formation took us a little by surprise and we took a while  to counteract it.

The 1st half was an even affair with both sides creating chances , we thought we had gone ahead with Pikey touching the ball over the keeper only for it to be ruled out by the linesman. Yate had a couple of good breaks which they failed to convert .  The half was ended 0-0 , which didn't reflect the good football played by both sides.

The 2nd half was much the same , we created a couple of chances which we failed to convert, then with about 10mins we conceded a goal following good run and cross from the right wing the Yate forward knocked it in from close range. Now chasing the game we left gaps in midfield which Yate started to exploit. We created another couple of chances which we didn't put away. Yate took advantage of the space we gave them and scored 2 late goals. The final score of 3-0 to Yate this didn't reflect how close this game was.

Bromley Heath v AEKBoco (A) 12-10-08 AYL DIV 1

This was a disappointing game for us , we were never in it from the start. AEKBoco took the lead following a corner which went unchallenged and it was nodded in to the bottom corner. We allowed Boco to dominate all aspects of the park. Their tactic of a bit hit from back to front worked for them. There 2nd goal was a little lucky, again following a corner an attempted clearance hit the Boco player on the back , hit the post and then crept in the net .

The 2nd was a slightly better performance, I changed the formation and we looked a little better team.  We were still unable to create any real danger in the Boco defence.  We did get a goal back following Alex Hill attempted shot bounced around the penalty area and Pikey dashed in to poke the ball over the line. We pushed all the players we could but were unable to get a 2nd. Final score a 2-1 defeat

This was a poor game for us, with all repsect to Boco we should looking to beat teams like, ino order to consolidate our League 1 position..We need to forget this game and get back to winning ways next week.

Yate Rangers v Bromley Heath 19-10-08 AYL League Cup 2nd Round
This could have been a banana skin game for us. We need to get back to playing good positive football following last weeks game.

The wind played a big advantage blowing straight down the pitch. We took advantage of this but for terrible finishing we should have been 4-0 up inside 20mins. We finally broke through when following one of a number of great corners from Jordan , Alex H nodded in. We seemed to settle down and went in 1/2 time 4-0 up . following goals from Pikey 2 and Harv. Overall we played some decent football , when we went a goal up the whole team started to look for the ball making space , winning the 50/50 balls and creating chances

Now playing against the wind , I expected a bit of a rearguard battle but it never really materialised , Yate's striker looked dangerous on a couple of occasions but could not find the target.  We closed off the game with 2 more goals a tap in from Liam and close range effort from GT

Well played lads good performance now into the 3rd  round

Bromley Heath v Henbury 02-11-08 AYL DIV 1

The pre-match team talk was this was going to be a physical battle and we had to stand up and be counted.

Within 1st 10mins we were 2 down , so much for my team talk. We failed to get decent tackles in and were being muscled out of it. All credit to the boys led by the captain Dan who had a magnificent game we gained control of the game playing some really good football in the sticky conditions. We now were winning the physicalbattle which allowed to pass and move the ball around well.  Following a cross from the right Alex Hill rose above the goalkeeper and nodded the ball in to the bottom corner, you could sense we had belief now.  Following another great move George Pike slotted the ball in under the goal keeper dive. This appeared to give Henbury and kick and all credit they played some nice football prompted by their captain.  We conceded 2 more goals , where we were caught out by their midfield breaking through and we were unable to clear our lines. We went in at 1/2 half 4-2 down.

Half team talk and a couple of changes we came out and fought for everything. We were now closing down from the front and putting Henbury under a lot of pressure, we just couldn't create a cl;ear cut chance to get back in the game. The 2nd half was a even affair and again a slip in our defence gave Henbury their 5th . The boys can be proud of this performance against an unbeaten team who will be challenging for the title come the end of the season.

The final score was 5-2 defeat but a lot of positives can be taken out of the game which we need to carry forward into our next game.

Bromley Heath v Rodborough 16th Nov ( County Cup 2nd Rd)

We were had no idea what to expect today, the opposition didn't arrive until 2pm , they had 5 mins to get sorted as the referee wanted to ensure we could get the game finished in daylight. The weather had closed in making it very dark.

Both teams started brightly , playing attractive football in terrible conditions. Rodborough'stactic was to clear the ball directly to the forwards and hope to out sprint the defence. Joe, Chase , Jordan and Arti covered all attacks with little problems. We had a scare when a mix up allowed the oppositionmidfielderto take a long shot which bounced back off the crossbar. We were playing some good football, quick one touch football , once the ball was out wide , both Sam and GT were beating the fullbacks and creating problems. 5 minutes from halftime a corner taken by Dan was turned in by Jordan.  Half time 1-0

Made a slight change pushing Harv up front and moving Alex back to midfield . We were now in full control playing some great football. A sweeping move down the left allowed Pikey to out pace the defender before being brought down in the penalty area. Chase ( birthday-boy) stepped up to hit the penalty in off the crossbar. 2-0 . We kept pushing forward with Dan and Alex controlling the play. Alex then hit a wonderful effort from midway inside the opposition half which flew in to the top corner.  3-0. This was the final score .

Well done boys you played great stuff today in very difficult conditions against a team who worked hard and had a good skill level.
