Bromley Heath 3 Warmley Rangers 1 14-9-08

A great start to the season for our lads. We were playing the team that just missed out on promotion to Division 1 by one place last season and we came away with a well deserved victory. The match started brightly for Bromley with a shot on goal within the first minute. We had the best of the play in the first half but a defensive misunderstanding meant that undeservedly Bromley went in at half time down by a goal to nil.
Bromley started the second half well with a number of chances with our strikers Chris Hucker & Marcus Colvin making themselves a real nuisance for the Warmley defence and Chris pouncing on a defensive error to equalise. Warmley started to get more of the game but our defence, assisted with some great stops by Bromley keeper James Willis kept Warmley at bay. Twenty minutes into the half Chris laid the ball off to Ed Mead on the left wing who crossed to Marcus who controlled the ball instantly, turned & shot...... 2-1 to Bromley.The pressure from Warmley moved up a gear but all of the lads commitment meant Warmley did not score, 15 Minutes from time Chris rounded off an excellent performance and poached his second goal. .... 3-1 Bromley.The last 15 minutes saw more pressure from Warmley and with a tiring midfield were getting more chances but the defence & Keeper held firm to make sure that Bromley finished the game with its first ever league win at Pomphrey Hill.Overall an excellent committed performance from every Bromley Player no one could be faulted for the effort that they put in but special mention should be made of three new members of the squad who had excellent first starts - Marcus (1 goal) Chris (2 goals) & James Willis who was made Man of the Match.
