Coalpit Heath United v Bromley Heath United Div2 09-11-11
Bromley's opening league fixture of the season was a difficult trip to Coalpit Heath United. A minutes silence was observed for the 9/11 victims. It was hard to believe that these lads were only 4 years old when this tragedy happened and both groups of players and parents observed the silence impeccably.
Playing against the wind Bromley had a slow but solid start to the game. CPH were poking and prodding but the Brom defense held firm. The first goal went Bromley's way with a great pass to Connor which spilt the CPH defense and Connor slotted home, CPH struck back from a free kick to make the score 1-1. Bromley restored the lead to 2-1 after a similar ball was played that made the first goal. HT 2-1 Bromley
The second half Bromley had the advantage of a medium wind behind them. This meant a slightly different tack was needed. The lads then bagged a further 3 goals coming from Josh W, Josh D and Joe O'Connor. Ross saved a Penalty, Will injured his leg and CPH got a deserve goal back to make the final score 5-2 to Bromley.
Brislington v Bromley Heath United u15's Div 2 18-09-11
Bromley were looking to get back on track after losing to Rovers in mid-week.
After a flat start were we looked a little out of sorts Bromley got a goal through Connor. This sparked Brom into life and it was not long until Con grabbed a second from a great Will free kick which Connor glanced onwards with his head to find the corner of the goal. The first half hat trick was completed by Connor just before the break HT 3-0 Bromley.
Bromley came flying out of the blocks in the second half, lots of good passing play involving all the team. Joe added a 4th with a well worked move and cap off a fine display Connor got 2 more goals to finish the game with 5 goals. Final score 6-0
Final thought. This game should be remembered for the right reasons, the great football we played! What happened thereafter is being dealt with.
